my work is about paying attention. there are threads everywhere – links. i pull them. the threads form knots. the knots are the stories, which happen on the way of untangling the threads, like little decalages. i witness the stories and i try to tell them. i untangle the threads, meticulously or impatiently. sometimes the threads break: my work is also about care. and the condition of things and beings. and if the threads are cut, my work is about sharp things in life.

Simone Karl (she/her) is a visual artist and artistic researcher in Hamburg, Germany.
Karl's artistic practice spans sculpture, installation, object and collage. Working with materials such as chainmail, claws, piercings, textiles, and found objects, she explores the relationship between vulnerability, resistance, desire, and bodily agency. Her work investigates how seemingly opposing forces – protection and exposure, attraction and threat, control and loss of control, hardness and softness – coexist within bodies, materials, and social structures.
In her current artistic research, she explores anger, resilience, and transformation as interconnected forces. Through fieldwork, embodied research, sound recording, and writing, she investigates ambivalent states in which contradictory conditions coexist: attraction and threat, protection and vulnerability, destruction and creation. Volcanoes serve as geological, affective, and poetical figures through which she examines how pressure accumulates, erupts, and generates new forms, spaces, and possibilities.

A photographer born in Mexico City in 1986, whose practice lies at the intersection of artistic, feminist, and documentary photography. Through a conceptual and experimental approach, she explores bodily diversity as well as the relationships between living beings and their environment.
Her work is distinguished by its attention to form, texture, and light, aiming to produce images that invite reflection and question established norms. For her, photography is a tool for engaged visual storytelling, serving inclusion, equity, social justice, and ecological awareness.
She collaborates with feminist and social organizations in Belgium and internationally, developing visual narratives rooted in contemporary issues related to equality, diversity, and the environment.
